iPad will not update through iTunes as instructed

When I tether my iPad into the lasted version of iTunes, and I am logged in with Apple id, both in iTunes and on the iPad I do NOT get the same options as with my phone, like, memory, or SN, restore, or 'there is a newer iOS would you like to download and install, all I get is a picture of iPads and the options to SET UP AS A NEW iPAD or restore from last nights auto back up.


No option to back up to this computer or for example this is a screen shot of what my phone is offered

Nothing like that for my iPad, what am I doing wrong?
